London Residency Hard Floor Sound Isolation Solution
Acoustiblok’s sound insulation materials enabled a number of differing hard floor finishes, including marble and stone, to be installed in a high end London penthouse. Hard flooring can present noise problems in multi-occupancy dwellings unless high performance sound insulation materials, such as Acoustiblok’s 3mm and 6mm sound insulation membrane are used to reduce impact noise transmission through floors and ceilings.
Many multi dwelling properties within London now have Licence to Alter agreements, with standard clauses stipulating that all floors must have soft finishes to maintain or improve high impact and airborne insulation levels to prevent noise nuisance to residents.
However, many owners wish to have solid floor finishes for a number of reasons be it for wear and tear, ease of maintenance or possibly due to allergies, and find themselves restricted by building management companies or authorities.
The owner of this high end penthouse requested a number of differing hard floor finishes to include marble, stone and oak timber and tiles. As such the architect, from leading architecture and property management company Fabricari Ltd, specified Acoustiblok AcoustiMat Acoustic Underlay and Acoustiblok Sound Isolation Membranes throughout, to ensure the required acoustic ratings were achieved and exceeded. Acoustiblok 3mm Isolation Membrane was also incorporated into specific walls within the property as well to mitigate problematic flanking transmissions through structure.
