Superyacht Soundproofing Solutions
As 31.40m MY Romantica was being made ready for delivery to her owner, the boat builders realised there was a serious acoustic issue with sound travelling around the entire vessel through vibration and a regeneration of power through the hull.
Immediately under the main deck with the beautiful lounging area were housed two huge MTU turbocharged engines with 225hp along with power plants for electrics, aircon equipment and water makers. These noise sources were only 50mm away from the dining table, leaving the boat builders seeking solutions.
Following meetings between the naval architects, the boatbuilders and the Acoustiblok consultancy team, a mitigation strategy was adopted to install Acoustiblok insulation to the engine room, salon floors and bulkheads, as well as to the thruster housings, providing a comprehensive control of what had become quite a persistent problem.
Superyacht Soundproofing Insulation
“We realised quite early on that with this vessel we would encounter quite serious problems due to the vast power and proximity of the propulsion and plant spec but I am very pleased to say that with Acoustiblok installed in the critical areas we now have all the positives and none of the negatives”
